News: Prison Break Returns in 2017

The extremely popular TV series, Prison Break, which aired its final episode on May 15, 2009, is re-airing in 2017 on Fox. There is much anticipation for Season 5, as the 4th season ended with the death of the main character, Michael Scofield, played by Wentworth Miller. The plot advertised for season 5 reveals that Michael is actually alive, and is being held in a Yemen prison. The plot of the original series is Michael’s brother, Lincoln Burrows, played by Dominic Purcell was sentenced to death after being convicted of a murder he did not commit. Michael purposely committed a fake robbery and fired off a shot, so that he would be put in the same prison as Lincoln so he could break him out. The show then continues as many other inmates join in on the escape, and a national manhunt ensues which continues even out of the United States. Prison break has a 8.5/10 rating on IMDB and a 9.0 rating on TV.com. Interestingly, show creator, Paul Scheuring, said in a July 2016 interview that “Nobody wants to revive this thing for multiple seasons,” suggesting that this will likely be Prison Break’s final season. In August 2016, FOX confirmed that Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, and Sarah Wayne Callies will be returning as their respective characters for Season 5. In September, FOX confirmed that Amaury Nolasco will be returning as Sucre, fellow inmate of Lincoln and Michael, who had their backs in so many situations throughout the escape and manhunt. Scheuring also announced that a new character will be appearing on the show: Michael's son. Stay tuned for what will likely be an action-packed, intense season.
