News: TABC Storm Off to a Great Season

The Torah Academy sports teams are off to a tremendous start. Who says TABC isn’t good at basketball? The varsity basketball team starts off the season 3-1, defeating the Maor Yeshiva twice, the Ramaz Rams once, and falling to the Frisch Cougars in a hard fought game. The game against Ramaz came down to the final moments, as Eli Harcsztark knocked down a free throw to tie up the game with 7 seconds left. Raanan Kimmel, AKA Ronny K, then put on the finishing touches, hitting 2 more free throws.

The JV basketball team start off 2-0, capturing wins against the Ramaz Rams, and JEC. Star sophomores’, (and captains), Avi Proctor and Alex Ostrin have been leading the way for the Storm.

The Varsity hockey team is slowly climbing the ladder. They started off winning three out of their first five games, leaving them at 3-1-1. Efraim Tiger and captain Zack Rothenberg lead the team in points, with Solly Wieser providing solid goaltending for the Storm. On Wednesday, November 30th, the storm made their way out to the Rambam Mesivta. Efraim Tiger gave them an early 1-0 lead, but the Ravens soon caught up. The score was 3-1 in favor of Rambam at the start of the 3rd period. With a few goals, the storm caught up and tied the game at 4 a piece. Going into overtime, both teams were pumped. Rambam came into the game thinking they would get an easy win, but they were mistaken. A couple minutes into overtime, Efraim Tiger had a beautiful rebound shot to give the storm the win.

The JV hockey team is off to a booming start at 2-0, defeating Frisch (3-1) and Kushner (9-1). They are being led by their three captains Avraham Gellman ‘17, Akiva Hain ‘17, and Yechiel Keiser ‘17.

Overall, it has been a great start to the 2016-2017 season. With all 4 winter sports starting off with winning records, TABC looks to continue their promising year. Go Storm!
