One of the integral aspects of a classroom in 2016 is computer usage. Almost all students at TABC use a computer and, specifically, Google Docs, which requires Wi-Fi. Recently, there have been problems with the Wi-Fi at TABC, especially in the newer wing of the building. Many students have found themselves unable to take notes and, consequently, find themselves falling behind in class. We spoke to Simcha Shron (‘18), who has English class in Room 10. He commented: “I use Google Docs for my notes and I can't take notes when there’s no Wi-fi.” It seems that many other students are facing this problem. Yonatan Kurz (‘18), who takes Gemara in Room 15 told us that “Last year, there were no problems with the Wi-Fi, but this year it has been very inconsistent.” Students rely on the Wi-Fi and they cannot constantly experience issues with it. Furthermore, not only are the students affected by the Wi-Fi, but the teachers are also slowed down by the Wi-Fi problems. When the students are constantly trying to connect back onto the Wi-Fi, the teacher loses control over the class. In the past few weeks, new Wi-Fi routers have been installed in each of the rooms with Wi-Fi problems, so hopefully this effort will fix the pervasive issue.
