Call of Duty: World War Two is an exciting, action-packed game that I enjoyed because of its return to realistic gameplay.
Many people have different opinions about the more traditional gameplay, which reintroduced former styles from previous games. For myself and many other fans, we purchase games like this because of its relevance to real warfare.
Unfortunately, the Call of Duty series had moved on to other directions like more futuristic warfare. For example, Advanced Warfare, which was released in 2014, focused on fictional gadgets. The realistic elements of World War Two is a welcome return to form.
Many warfare games come with a first-person shooter experience. This allows you to feel as if you are really inside the game and controlling what's happening. World War Two (as well as all the games that came before it from the same developers) incorporate this aspect into their gameplay, which I find to be awesome.
Each of these games has a storyline, or (as the game refers to it) a campaign. In World War Two, the game takes you through the heroic actions taken by soldiers on the battlefields of Europe. Each player begins the contest on the boats that invaded the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Then the story continues by taking you through the other experiences that soldiers faced in Normandy.
The small, life-like details of World War Two separates the game from the pack, as it truly allows players to feel as if they are in the war themselves.
But there is one notable difference in this campaign that the Call of Duty games have not been seen in a while: there is no health regeneration. Players must instead find a health pack to regain health.
As mentioned earlier, World War Two restored many basic factors that were taken away from the game over time - factors that make the game more realistic and enjoyable. As opposed to other games such as Advanced Warfare, which featured jetpacks and other invented boosts, World War Two only gives players basic movements such as running, jumping and crouching.
Additionally, the game brought back realistic guns such as the m1 Grand rifle or the StG 44 assault rifle. In contrast, the guns in Advanced Warfare had unrealistic details like different numbers and lights coming out of the sides of the guns.
The game did not just stop there, though - new modes were also added. For example, World War Two features a new game mode called “dogfight,” in which each player flys a plane within a certain zone and tries to shoot an opposing plane down.
Additionally, an alternative mode allows you to protect your base while also attacking the base of your opponent. These innovative features create an exhilarating experience, as it is impossible not to be absorbed by the competitive nature of the game.
Furthermore, the game has a system of reaching higher levels with XP (or experience points). When receiving a certain amount of these points, your player goes up a level and once you reach a high enough level, your player can be "prestiged".
Prestiging occurs when you bring your player back to level one and are rewarded with gifts such as camos, and other cosmetics.
The reason for mentioning this is because the developeers changed the process of prestiging your player. Instead of doing it off of the main menu, you are required to go to another area of the game in order to prestige. This happens to be one of the only negative factors that I have found from playing the game.
In conclusion, Call of Duty: World War Two brought back multiple different details that were once a part of previous and more original games. Those aspects of the game bring back an unbelievable sense of warfare to the game and I loved it. Although it isn’t a perfect game, I think it is most definitely worthy of trying.
So, if the details I’ve explained are interesting to you, I highly suggest you buy the game.
